How to make a refreshing kombucha refresher
If you’ve never had a kombucha before, the taste can be a bit confusing. Is it tea? Or juice? Why does it taste sour? Why is it fizzy? These are things that make a kombucha perfect for a mocktail.
Kombucha is a fermented tea with a tangy, slightly fizzy taste, and it makes a great base for a fruity mocktail. Try adding fruit, citrus, herbs, or ginger, depending on what you feel like. Our kombucha mocktail is quite simple and includes a splash of mainelove Raspberry Lime With Bubbles. We love the result, which is a refreshing, fruity drink with just enough tartness to make it interesting.
The story behind kombucha
The origin story of kombucha is shrouded in the mists of time, but it’s commonly believed to have originated in ancient China. From there, it spread to Russia and other parts of Europe in the early 20th century, and to America in the early 21st century. It is claimed to have numerous health benefits, including good gut health, antioxidant properties, liver support, and heart health.
Kombucha drinks are made by fermenting sweetened tea with a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast), which is what gives the drink its distinctive tangy flavor and natural fizz. Over time, Kombucha has moved far beyond its traditional origins and is now found in health food stores, grocery shops, and even in cocktails. The versatile beverage can be used for everything from basic fruit drinks to creative cocktails and mocktails.
