How to make refreshing coconut dirty lime soda
Despite its name, the coconut dirty lime soda has clean flavors and is a very refreshing drink, perfect for those long, endless summer days. Dirty sodas, for those who are not familiar with the concept, are sodas made with flavored syrup, cream, fresh fruit, or citrus.
Coconut cream and lime are a combo that works surprisingly well together, as Pina Coladas and Thai Curries have proven. No wonder someone decided to put them together along with some fizz to conjure up a refreshingly lip-smacking mocktail. Our version uses mainlove with Bubbles for a lighter, less sugary version of the drink.
A quick history of the coconut dirty lime soda
Dirty sodas originated in Utah, where soda shops began mixing flavored syrups and cream with sodas to cater to a large section of the population that did not drink alcohol but still wanted to indulge in something fancy.
Someone at some point added lime juice and coconut cream to a soda glass, and it became popular. Local Utah chains brought the dirty soda format to TikTok, where people make their own versions instead of going to the drive-thru.
Here’s the mainlove version of the coconut dirty lime soda.

How to make a coconut dirty lime soda
-
Fill a tall soda glass with ice. We’re doing this step first to reduce the odds of the coconut cream splitting when lime is added to it.
-
Add lime juice to the ice.
-
Pour in the chilled mainelove with Bubbles.
-
Now add the coconut cream real slowly. It will float and swirl through the drink, which is okay.
-
Stir everything very gently. You don’t want to lose the fizz or the cream to split.
-
Garnish with the lime slice and serve right away.
Tip: If your coconut cream is very thick, mix it first with a tablespoon or two of the mainelove with Bubbles. Then when you mix it into the drink you don’t get any blobs of coconut cream floating around.
