Bottled Water vs. Tap Water
Neither bottled water nor tap water is automatically “better.” The answer depends on local water quality, convenience, taste, filtration, cost, and how the water is packaged.
Municipal tap water in the United States is regulated by the EPA, while bottled water is regulated by the FDA. Both systems have safety requirements, although the rules and monitoring systems differ.
Tap water has a major cost advantage. In most communities, it costs dramatically less per gallon than packaged water.
Bottled water wins on portability and convenience, especially for travel, events, emergencies, outdoor activities, and places where a refill source is not available.
The downside is packaging—particularly when every individual serving requires another disposable plastic bottle.
There Is a Third Option
The choice does not have to be: tap water or plastic bottled water. Canned water offers the portability of bottled water while reducing dependence on plastic bottles. That is where mainelove fits: convenient packaged water in an aluminum can. Tap water at home. Canned water when you need portable hydration. Plastic bottle no longer required.
